Dear Seniors Fellows,

You’re invited to join the Trainee Program 2008, as a Mentor of a group

of trainees. These Trainees represent all campuses and of course, cultures. The Trainees are students from one of the MF partner universities that will be selected to participate in an “Intercultural Communication Training Experience” (ICTE), also called Trainee Program,

before they can become a Melton Fellow. This year’s Trainee Program lasts from March 15th to June 15th.
We’d need your commitment during this period and two additional weeks during assessment time.

What does a Mentor do?

A Mentor is a Senior Fellow, and a key participant of the Trainee Program, since he/she will be helping with the work and research the trainees have to carry out inside an email discussion group (similar to

Fellows’ Workgroups), called Team- Up Group. In this group, the Trainees have to work on a project and prepare a deliverable together. The mentor is there in case they need any guidance and help, and also carries out an evaluation of their performance.

In previous years, we’ve had the active participation of Senior Fellows

that have volunteered for this role, and the experience has been very satisfactory and successful, in the attempt to transmit the MF values and experience to the group of Trainees.
To know more about the Program and what it means to be a Trainee, please see this year’s Trainee Manual at:
http://www.meltonfoundation.org/procom/2008/Trainees_Manual_2008.pdf

Again this year, we need your help and commitment!

If you are interested in becoming a Mentor and /or want to know more about it, please contact Patty Ortiz (portiz@meltonfoundation.org) before March 20th.

Greetings,

Patty Ortiz
Program Assistant
